Woking Lions Club is organising its 3rd Fund-raising Run from Fairoaks Airport across Horsell Common on the north side of Woking on Sunday 1st July 2018. As previously, the run will start in the attractive surroundings of McLaren Park, adjoining and to the rear of the iconic car manufacturer, McLaren. The route for all 3 distances firstly heads south into the well tree stocked part of Horsell Common with 2 of the runs skirting the edge of the well-known sand pits of H G Wells fame. The longer runs take in the now well-established Wetlands Centre to the west edge of the Common, and the whole route is “off road” through woodland and open fields, with 2 water stations in the middle of the runs, and a further one at the finish.
All funds raised will go out to Transform Housing to support its Woking properties and residents, Woking & Sam Beare Hospice towards the outstanding ‘new build’ costs, Woking Community Transport who are helping us with 2 Bustler buses on the day, York Road Projects, Woking District Guides (East & West) and Woking District and Horsell Scouts who are also helping us to help them look after the many homeless people and to other local Community Welfare good causes within our area.

This charity event is organised entirely by volunteers with all surplus income going to local good causes. The 2018 run will build on the success of the previous two years with an increased number of runners and a bigger event village. We need more volunteers to help and support this much enjoyed Fun Run through attractive surroundings and to make this even more successful than the previous two years. If you would like to help, please sign up and you will be accepted as a volunteer. We will contact you a couple of weeks before the event, and match you to a role with your preferences.
In completing your application please advise any specialism you have, and whether you could help set up the route and the Registration area on Saturday 30th June, as well as dismantling everything and collecting in all the 100 plus arrows from round the Common on Sunday afternoon, on completion of the run.Volunteer
Entrants are kindly requested to consider whether they would be kind enough to raise further funds both for Woking Lions Club’s local good causes, by using the ‘my donate’ route, and for their own chosen charity. It will only take a few moments longer to complete that section of the form, and would go a long way to helping those less fortunate within the local area.
